Informing that Thoubal district administration will organise one-day sales event at counting hall of DC Complex from 11 am on March 12 for various items produced by the internally displaced persons (IDPs) staying in relief camps, Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subhash Singh has appealed to the public to purchase the items and help the IDPs.
Addressing the media on Monday, DC Subhash informed that since outbreak of the ethnic conflict on May 3, 2023, people displaced from Moreh, Churachandpur, Napat and Sugnu areas have been staying in three relief camps opened in the district.
The district administration has been imparting training on diverse trades for the IDPs to enhance their income generation opportunities.
In continuation of the initiative, the sales event is being organised to provide a platform to the women IDPs to sell different items they have made after undergoing the training, he explained, adding that plastic products, candles, flowers, 'Mora' (stool), 'Kou-na' (water reed) items, office files, pencil pouches, mobile bags, etc., will be on sale at the event.
Subhash further appealed to the public to visit the sales event and purchase the products to support the IDPs in view of the upcoming 'Yaoshang' festival.
