Imphal, February 21 2025: A combined team of Bishnupur police commandos, Phougakchao police station, and 19th Garhwal Rifles apprehended two individuals along with brown sugar from near the sericulture gate no 2, Kwakta Phougakchao Ikhai under Bishnupur police station on Thursday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Moichingmayum Farid (28) and Md Amar Shah (29).A total of 4.866 kg of suspected brown sugar was recovered from their possession.

Police source said that the two were travelling in a grey colour Hyundai i10 Car when the security team stopped them for checking.

Upon inspection, two polythene packets were found inside the car; which turned out to be brown sugar.

They disclosed that they procured the contraband from Churachandpur.
