Skill development workshop concludes

Imphal, November 18 2021:
The 3-Day State Level Workshop on Skill Upgradation/Capacity Building on Tribal Art & Painting organised by Tribal Research Institute, Department of Tribal Affairs & Hills in collaboration with Imphal Art College concluded on Thursday.
The workshop was organised as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration with the support of Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Speaking as chief guest of the valedictory function, Dr V Haokip, who is Tribal Affairs and Hills joint director and chief medical officer, thanked the Union Minister of Tribal Affairs and officials of the Ministry for the special attention given to TRI Manipur.
He also stressed on various opportunities for career advancement available in the field of tribal art and painting.
Dwelling on the various aspects and benefits of art, he stated that art and painting is important not only to enhance livelihood through quality artistic works, preservation and promotion of culture but it leads to a healthy balanced life.
He spoke about six benefits of painting and encouraged the participants to hone their skills to lead a happy and successful life and added that art itself is a stress-buster and everyone can benefit from it.
All practical sessions of the workshops were held at Imphal Art College.
The valedictory function was also attended by Imphal Art College HoD (Painting) Haobam Devabrata Singh and HoD (Applied Art) K Dillikumar.
Other activities being organised in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration by Tribal Research Institute under Department of Tribal Affairs and Hills in collaboration with Imphal Art College will culminate on November 22 along with end of 3-Day State Level Workshop on Skill Upgradation/Capacity Building on Pottery and Clay Modelling which will start on Friday.
