Imphal, August 21 2025: Wanglee Company Operating Base of Assam Rifles in collaboration with local village authorities organised a tree plantation drive in connection with the Senior Citizenship Day observance at Wanglee village on Thursday.

According to PRO IGAR (S), the event unfolded with spirited participation of village elders, youth, and children in planting over 200 saplings of native species across designated areas of the village so as to enhance the green cover, restore ecological balance and serve as a symbolic gesture of nurturing life and legacy, much like the role of senior citizens in shaping communities.

Assam Rifles personnel actively engaged with the villagers throughout the event, fostering awareness about the invaluable role of elders in society.

Through interactive conversations and community bonding, they encouraged the younger generation to embrace responsibility towards their elders and uphold the values of care, respect, and unity, the PRO informed.
