With the aim of imparting the indigenous Manipuri art form of applique, known as Liba or Phiriba, to internally displaced persons (IDPs), Manipur Women Gun Survivors Network organised a workshop at Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai relief camp on Wednesday.
The workshop had Padmashri awardee Lourembam Bino, well known in the field Manipuri indigenous art form of applique, teaching the art to the IDPs.
Speaking at the event, Network's founder-director Binalakshmi Nepram explained that traditional art form involves sewing pieces of fabric onto a larger base to create decorative patterns.

The training was conducted by Lourembam Bino, with the aim of passing on the craft to the IDPs and the younger generation.
Binalakshmi recalled that during an earlier interaction, Bino had expressed her desire to teach this art form to IDPs and preserve it for future generations.
She further highlighted that the organisation had also conducted Pena music training sessions at the relief camp, led by Manipuri folk singer 'Pena Donna' Ngairangbam.
Around 12 children benefited from the initiative, and their performances were showcased during the workshop held on Wednesday.
