Security fire in air to disperse protestors

Bishnupur, February 21 2025: Village volunteers from Toubul area in Bishnupur district had a verbal altercation with Thanga MLA T Robindro and his security escorts on Friday around 2 pm.

The incident occurred as the MLA's convoy attempted to force their way through the Bishnupur-Toubul road, which had been blocked by protestors by burning tyres.

The MLA and his escort team left the area after additional security led by 2nd IRB CO Hopson Sapam, intervened.

However, after the MLA and his team left, an altercation broke out between the village volunteers and the CO's escort team with the latter firing 5/6 warning shots in the air to disperse the agitators.

Shortly after, another team of security, including Bishnupur SP Ksh Ravikumar, additional SP Amarjit Lamabam and other police officers arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.
