Training on natural dyeing techniques ends

A three-day training programme on 'Natural dyeing techniques: Sustainable colour from nature' organised under the aegis of Chandel divisional forest officer (DFO) at Lambung village community hall, Chandel district concluded on Thursday.
The closing function of the programme, organised under Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme, was attended by Chandel DFO Dr Naorem Munal Meitei as chief guest, Lambung village chief LH Noah as president and Japhou Bazar Authority chairman/ Maha Area Chiefs' Association (MACA) chairman Js Angam as guest of honour, while chief trainer St Wanhring and Lambung Primary School headmaster St Vega were the other dignitaries on the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, br N Munal exuded confidence that the 43 trainees will convert experiences gained during the training into productive ventures and share their expertise with others.
Stressing that such training is essential to enhance the skills on use of natural colours extracted from plants and animals, he also expressed hope that as 92 per cent of Chandel district is hilly terrain the training programme will reap fruit.
While acknowledging that substantial number of villagers have knowledge about natural dyes since ancient times, he said the training programme was initiated to facilitate the participants have further insights into commercial production through sustainable and healthy process.
