AR aids villagers destroy poppies

Imphal, February 28 2025:
Manipur police and Assam Rifles in collaboration with locals destroyed approximately 10 acres of illegal poppy cultivation, in the hills of Suangkong village in Churachandpur district on Friday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the drive was conducted following request from Suangkong villagers to provide security and assistance in destroying the illicit poppy cultivation in their area.

The operation is a critical step in combating the spread of narcotics and its detrimental effects on society and also signifies Assam Rifles sustained efforts to curb the production and trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances in the region, the PRO added.
