Health director launches 'Care Mother Kits' of UAAM

Imphal, March 10 2025: Along with conduct of a training session for medical officers and nurses of Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandir (UAAM), the 'Care Mother Kits' of UAAM was launched in a function held at the State Family Welfare Training Centre, Lamphelpat on Monday.

The programme jointly organised by Directorate of Health Services and State Health Society in association with SELCO1 Foundation, PATH and Doto Health, was attended by Health Services director Dr Chambo Gonmei and NHM Manipur state mission director Dr M Dinesh as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking at the event, Dr Chambo highlighted that the newly launched 'Care Mother Kits' contain essential testing kits for blood sugar, haemoglobin and other health parameters.

"These kits will greatly assist patients, especially pregnant women as they are designed for portability and operational on solar power, making them especially beneficial for patients in remote and rural areas, where electricity may be scarce," he said.

After doctors and nurses receive basic training on how to use the kits, they will become an invaluable resource for healthcare in underserved regions, said the director.

The event was also attended by health department officials.
