Kangpokpi, April 01 2025: Key civil society organisations in Kangpokpi district unanimously elected a new general secretary of Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills, along with an additional vice chairman on Monday.

The decision comes ahead of a crucial Kuki-Zo leaders' consultative meeting at Kangpokpi district headquarters, focusing on the demand for separate administration.

Following extensive deliberations among leaders from Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association, student bodies, Kuki Women's Union, and various tribal organisations, N Sehjalien Gangte has been unanimously elected as the new general secretary, while Thangkhomang Chongloi of Haijang village has been appointed as CoTU vice chairman.

The newly elected general secretary and vice chairman were blessed by Mangkholen Kipgeri.
