UNC, Naga Hoho, others decry

Imphal, July 21 2023: The United Naga Council (UNC), while condemning the incident where two women were paraded naked, said today that it was devastated to see the "most embarrassing video clip that has gone viral on social media throughout the globe" .

The UNC also said the beastly act of "sexually assaulting right under the nose of the law enforcing agency and unleashing a reign of terror have shattered the basic principles of democracy".

The UNC further said the prestige and dignity of "our mother, daughter and sister" were wrecked beyond redemption.

The UNC said no authority should ever allow the perpetrators involved in "such a heinous crime" to go scot free.

It further said the Government must initiate necessary steps for immediate booking of all the people involved in "such dehumanizing crime" and should ensure a trial in the fast-track Court to deliver justice instantly.

The UNC added that the perpetrators involved in committing the "shameful act" should be given capital punishment to ensure that justice is delivered.

The Naga Hoho said it was appalled and outraged by the "horrifying incident where two innocent ladies from Kuki-Zo tribes" were paraded naked and sexually assaulted at B Phainom village in Manipur on May 4 by a marauding mob.

"Such heinous acts have no place in any civilized society, and we demand immediate action to bring justice to all the victims and their families," the Naga Hoho demanded today.

The All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) has stated that it was utterly flabbergasted by the news of a horrific video widely circulated in the social Media, where two women were stripped naked and paraded by a mob on May 4 .

In a condemnation note, ANSAM said that it vehemently condemned the horrendous episode.

Such obnoxious act has no place in the present society and should be condemned by every right thinking citizen, it said.

The ANSAM while denouncing the barbaric act, urged the concerned authority to take necessary actions and book all those perpetrators at the earliest and befitting punishment be awarded as per law of the land.

The Naga People's Front (NPF), Manipur State unit conveyed that it vehemently condemned the despicable and unpardonable act of violence committed against two women by an unruly mob, obliterating the age old tradition of paying highest respect to mothers and sisters.

All those perpetrators involved in the heinous crime of May 4 must be brought to justice, NPF added.

North East Students' Organisation (NESO), North East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS), Liangmai Pui Naga Ruangdi (LPNR), Mao Naga Women Welfare Association, Mao Hoho, Nagaland and ATSUM have also condemned the incident in the strongest terms.
