No more fuel shortage difficulties, says HM

Imphal, July 13 2012: After the State was thrown out of gear for a couple of days after fuel pumps shut down in protest, Home Minister Gaikhangam has assured people would not witness such difficult situation any more.

Responding to a call attention motion raised by L Ibomcha about the hardships endured by people due to non-availability of fuel following blockade on NH 2 and closure of oil pumps, Gaikhangam informed that one oil pump each in Imphal East and Imphal West districts were opened since last night.

He said that the CAF &PD Minister was also working to get all other pumps open.

He admitted that people were facing a difficult situation due to closure of oil pumps following an arson attempt as well as bandh on NH 2 in protest against hiring and hijacking of a vehicle from Nagaland by one Th Premkumar.

Informing that accused Premkumar has been arrested along with seizure of the hijacked vehicle, the Home Minister said that the seized vehicle would be handed over to Nagaland Police.

It was expected that the Southern Angami Youth Organisation would call off the highway bandh very soon.

As such, there was no need to panic about possible shortage of fuel oils, Gaikhangam claimed.

Th Shyamkumar too raised a call attention motion seeking attention of the Health Minister towards denial of application forms by Family Welfare Department to applicants who passed out from the National Institute of Open School during recruitment of nurses.

Responding to the motion, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing clarified that the NIOS certificate holders were denied application forms during recruitment of ANM nurses in 2011 as the Board of Secondary Education Manipur had already issued an order in 2003 which declared all NIOS certificates invalid.

Before 2003, all NIOS certificates were valid.

There were many cases where NIOS students who had little knowledge about their books were represented by others at exam centres.

In view of such malpractices, it is possible that all open schools would be de-recognised, the Health Minister added.
