Imphal, February 28 2025:
BJP MLA Lourembam Rameshwor has asserted that fellow BJP MLAs are unable to work together as the number of MLAs craving for the post of Chief Minister and Ministerial posts is rising.
Responding to queries raised by media persons at Kangla today where he offered prayer, Rameshwor said it is a matter of grave concern that there is no cohesion among the BJP MLAs as if they are afflicted by a common disease.
It was rather unfortunate that some BJP MLAs, citing medical reasons, tried to stay away from a special meeting which was later aborted, he said.
With MLAs Kh Ibomcha and K Robindro as joint convenors, a special meeting of all BJP MLAs was convened to discuss the unfolding situation and chart out a course in line with the people's pulse and wishes.
But the MLAs could not come together as some of them were outside the State as if they all got ill at the same time, Rameshwor said.
No one likes President's Rule and the people have expressed strong desire for the BJP MLAs to come together and form a new popular Government, the MLA representing Keirao AC said.
If the present political dispensation continues, the people will not be amused.
"As people's representatives, we must know and work in line with the people's pulse", Rameshwor said.
He then expressed elation on the resurgence of the Meitei indigenous faith and the emergence of a new convention of Meitei people gathering at local level on every Nongma Panba (first day of every Manipuri calendar month) .
He also underscored the need for Meiteis to gather together and deliberate on the community's welfare at least once in a month.
