The transporters' and Drivers' Council (TDC), the only apex transport organisation of all commercial vehicles in Manipur, has once again appealed to bazar community and drivers not to defy the decision taken by all concerned not to ply NH 39 (Imphal-Dimapur road).
General Secretary of TDC, Ng Haridas in a press release noted that some businessmen of Imphal bazar and some Manipuri truck owners and drivers were violating the decision for their desire of earning more profit.
He appealed to all concerned to bear the inconveniences and hardship at least for some time until a situation emerges wherein all could travel/ply freely and without fear on the Imphal-Dimapur road.
The TDC warned that any consequences that may come about from violating the decision, which had been unanimously and conscientiously adopted by every sections concerned, should be the responsibility of the violators.
Meanwhile, Haridas announced that 46 trucks carrying stones and boulders had left Imphal yesterday on NH 53 for repairing works on the highway.
At the same time, the TDC expressed its gratitude and thanks to Nongmaithem Inaocha of Kakching bazar, who donated Rs 20,000, Chongtham Tomba, proprietor of Langol Lairembi Steel and Cement House, Uripok for donating Rs 20,000, Ksh Chandrakumar, Keishampat for donating Rs 100, All Manipur Scrap Entrepreneurs Association, MG Avenue for donating Rs 10,000 and Pukhrambam Yaima of Heinoukhongnembi Maibam Leikai for having donated Rs 15,000 to the TDC to help repairing the NH 53 .
So far, different persons have donated a total amount of Rs 1,68,100 to the TDC, Haridas announced and added that this money was being spent on repairing NH 53 .
