Leimarembi Induprabha's statue unveiled in Cachar

Imphal, April 17 2025:
Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Thokchom Satyabrata unveiled a statue of Leimarembi Induprabha, who played a crucial role in driving out the Burmese from Manipur during the Seven Years' Devastation.
in Cachar, Assam, on Tuesday.
The function, jointly organised by the Leimarembi Induprabha Statue Installation Committee and Athouba Singgi Liklam Thiba Lup, was held at the South Barak Rural Development Agency Complex in Binnakandi Part 2, Cachar, Assam.
From this day onwards, the complex has been officially renamed as the Leimarembi Induprabha Complex.
Speaking as the chief guest, Satyabrata pointed out the importance of remembering and honouring the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the Meetei community from extinction.
The chief guest stated that he, along with other like-minded individuals, will take every necessary step to preserve and protect Leingondabi Pat in Cachar, Assam, the historic site where Maharaja Gambhir Singh and Nara Singh met and held discussions during the Seven Years' Devastation, and ensure that it retains its original form.
He also opined that reflecting on valour of the Manipuri forefathers and engaging in discussions on their feats during times of crisis can contribute to resolving current challenges and fostering lasting peace in the state.
The function was also attended by Leimarembi Induprabha Statue Installation Committee president Khaidem Kanta and Athouba Singgi Liklam Thiba Lup president Nando Tekcham, along with Other distinguished individuals.
RK Nongdrenkhomba, who donated the statue, and others who played key roles in making the installation possible, were felicitated during the event.
A souvenir was also released to mark the occasion.
