Rhythms of Manipur holds music demonstration

Imphal, March 10 2025: The Rhythms of Manipur, as part of its ongoing lecture demonstration programme on music at educational institutions, conducted a folk music demonstration at Promising Academy, Sagolband Tera Loukham Leirak, Imphal West on Monday .

According to a statement, the artistes of Rhythms of Manipur showcased their nationally acclaimed music composition Dancing Drummers and the state song 'Sanaleibak Manipur'.

The programme began with an introduction about the group and objective of the initiative by Rajkumar Sanatomba Singh, founder member and secretary of the group.

Following the demonstration, students and some teachers of the academy actively participated by playing the 'Langden' drums and other musical instruments.

It also informed that Rhythms of Manipur has been conducting such lecture demonstration programmes at various institutions for many years, with the most recent ones held at Jovial Bellona English School, Irom Meijrao, and SV Getwell School, Haotal, in November 2024.Established in 1985, the group has performed both nationally and internationally, collaborating with musicians from Japan and Trinidad in Imphal and Trinidad, respectively.

Since 2013, they have toured and performed in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Laos, Port of Spain, Bangkok, Surin, and most recently at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in August 2024 .
