Ukhrul, October 01 2024:
Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has drawn the attention to chief minister N Biren Singh to several of his unfulfilled promises and projects in Ukhrul district.
The appeal came following a joint meeting between TNL office bearers and representatives of Tangkhul frontal organisations, along with Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah, at the TNL president's office chamber on September 26 this year, during which the Executive Council of TNL and local public leaders minutely discussed various pressing issues of the district.
In a statement on Tuesday, TNL vice president RS Jollyson informed that one of the major topics discussed was the status of the Rs 13.50 crore incubation centre in Ukhrul, sanctioned by the North Eastern Council (NEC) in 2018.He added that although civil works have reached 80 per cent completion, the building remains non-operational due to incomplete electrical work and furnishings.
"We urge authorities concerned to expedite the remaining tasks.
The building must be made fully functional within three months; failing which, they would be held accountability for contempt the people's rights and interests," Jollyson said.
He also mentioned an unfulfilled promise made by chief minister Biren Singh during his visit to Ukhrul in October 2023 regarding the establishment of a Food Technology College under Central Agricultural University (CAU).
"We wish to draw kind attention of the CM to the assurance given to us for expeditious implementation," he said.
The TNL leader also reiterated the demand for the Kongva River Project, - a visionary multipurpose Project with external aids awaiting DPR from the finance department.
"This is our fervent demand that the CM may pursue the process in right earnest for expeditious execution of the project," he said, stressing that the most essentials to be taken care of, would be all-weather four lane roads, water supply, and power supply in the district.
