Pharmacies, clinics shut to protest 'demand'

Thoubal, January 29 2025:
Reacting to threats and excessive monetary demand imposed by various organisations, pharmacies, clinics, and diagnostic facilities near Thoubal District Hospital closed their businesses and staged sit-in protests near the hospital gate and the oil pump at Arong Thong, Thoubal, on Wednesday.
The protest at the Hospital gate was organised by Pharmacy Association of District Hospital, while the other at Arong Thong was organised by All Clinics & Diagnostic Committee (ACDC), Thoubal.

Speaking on the sidelines, a female protestor disclosed that many organisations are imposing unbearable financial demands on clinics and diagnostic centres, creating serious issues to the owners, while appealing to all concerned to cease such demands.
The protestors held placards inscribed "Stop harassing your own people" and "Stop monetary demands", among others.
