World Poetry Day celebrated at Thoubal, Senapati

As celebrated across the globe, "World Poetry Day, 2025" was also celebrated at Thoubal and Senapati under the theme "Poetry as a Bridge for Peace and Inclusion" .
THOUBAL
Khorilol Sandoklup, Wanjing in collaboration with Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Thoubal and Ningol Khut Manipur, Wanjing celebrated "World Poetry Day" today at Khorilol Sanglen, Wanjing today.
It was attended by Tongbram Babulal, president of Khorilol Sandoklup Wanjing, Moirangthem Rajen, president of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Thoubal and Khundongbam Gunamani Leima, president of Ningol Khut Manipur, Wanjing as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Retd Associate Prof of Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Sengoi Sanasam highlighted the relevance of celebrating "World Poetry Day" in today's society.
At the second session of the event, a poetry recitation session moderated by renowned writer Nahakpam Biren was also held in which 20 poets read out their poems.
The event was attended by many Manipuri literature enthusiasts and well wisher.
SENAPATI
Adding to its chronicle, Mount Everest College, Senapati celebrated its first ever "World Poetry Day" today.
The event was organized by the Department of English under the theme "Poetry as a Bridge for Peace and Inclusion" .
The celebration aimed to highlight poetry's unique ability to write people across cultures, promote dialogue and foster understanding.
Donkaolung Malangmei in his keynote address stated that in time of division and discord, poetry has the potential to transcend differences and unite the people by giving voice to the oppressed, the displaced and the forgotten, offering a shared space where diverse voices, ideas and experiences can coexist in harmony.
The core of the program was the Inter-Departmental Poetry Recitation Competition, with Angelina Thek of Sociology department securing the 1st position, Jianreilung Malangmei of Botany Department and Sunday rose Phumai of Teacher Education Department bagged the 2nd position, and Ng Dziipane Lanah of English Department secured the 3rd position.
The organizer also gifted poems to all the invitees in specially Handcrafted scrolls.
