One dies, two injured in road mishap

Kakching, September 30 2024: A road mishap claimed the life of a 21-year-old youth and left two others injured on Sunday evening along National Highway 102 (Imphal-Moreh) in Heikakpokpi area under Kakching police station, Kakching district.

The incident occurred around 5:30 pm when a speeding Royal Enfield motorcycle (MN 04G-5725), struck the victim, who was jogging on the roadside.

The deceased, identified as Yumnam Michael (21), son of Y Badal of Irengband Sabal Leikai, was out for a jog when the motorcycle lost control and hit him.

Michael died on the spot.

Both riders, Ngoruw Kon-ingbor Moyon (36), son of Ng Nobinshing Moyon, and Khartu Deenpar Moyon (29), son of Kh Jacob Moyon, both of Penaching village, Chandel district, were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
