AR celebrates I-Day across state

Assam Rifles commemorated India's 79th Independence Day with grandeur and patriotic fervour across Manipur, bringing together thousands in a shared tribute to freedom, unity, and national pride.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that a ceremonial parade by contingents of AR and other CAPFs, followed by vibrant cultural performances was the highlight at the central celebration at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Imphal on Friday.
Across the Imphal valley, AR organised flag hoisting ceremonies and community outreach programmes at multiple Company Operating Bases (COBs) and garrison which were attended by students, teachers, locals, ex-CRPF personnel, meira paibi groups and IDPs including at Vocational Guide School in Sangaithel by COB L Koireng; Phougakchao Government High School by COB Komlakhong; Special Regular English School by COB Nambol; at COB Singjamei and COB Lilong which hosted a Thanga Bike Rally with 86 riders, it added.
The release continued that in Ukhrul district, the Somsai and Shangshak Battalions led the celebrations across towns and remote villages including Tolloi, Poi, Tusom, and Longpi.
Churachandpur district witnessed a week-long wave of patriotism led by Assam Rifles with various activities held including a pipe band display at Peace Ground, Tuibong, and wreath-laying ceremonies at Khuga and Tuibong War Memorials.
At Union Government Higher Secondary School in Chandel district, a pipe band display captivated 250 spectators, while at Pallel, ARPS students joined a flag march in collaboration with the ZEO.
Moreh's celebrations at the Battalion HQ and Integrated Check Post featured student march-pasts and community participation, drawing nearly 600 civilians.
In Kakching and Thoubal districts, students of ARPS, Kakching participated in the Independence Day Parade organised by district administration, while inter-village sports, medical camps, and Tiranga rallies connected communities in a shared celebration of freedom.
Patriotic songs and traditional dances added colour and emotion to the festivities.
At SehIon, the day began with the ceremonial, hoisting of the National Flag, followed by a spirited Tiranga motorcycle rally that coursed through the village along with cultural performances and patriotic songs by school children.
It further said.
On the other hand, AR organised a special 'A Day with Company Commander' for students in Awangkhul, Khongsang, Azuram, and Tamei villages in Tamenglong district on August 14 and Friday.
The day began with a flag-hoisting ceremony at each COB, where students gathered to witness the unfurling of the Tricolour, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
The company commanders interacted with the students, sharing insights into the significance of Independence Day and the role of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation.
A total of 170 students participated in the celebrations, engaging in various fun and competitions that fostered an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie.
The programme concluded with distribution of light refreshments and mementoes for winners.
Similarly, AR organised 'A Day with the Company Commander' at Kotlen in Kangpokpi district on August 14 to celebrate the 79th Independence Day.
The programme was attended by 265 students including 105 girls and 15 teachers from L Hengjol Village Junior High School.
The event began with a flag march, followed by a cultural dance performed by the students and various competitions, including a sack race, painting competition, ball-and-spoon race, and musical chairs.
Winners of these events were awarded prizes, after which the gathering sang the National Anthem.
