Sit-in protests victimisation of drug users

Imphal, July 14 2024: Members of U-Trust, CADAP, MACS Partner NGOs Forum, Resource Alliance and Individual Ex-Drug Users staged sit in protest on Stop victimisation of drug users and their families' at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall on Sunday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, one Huiningsubam Kishorchand pointed out that the protest is being organised as a common voice of ex-drug users.

Not only the drug users are stigmatised, the unwarranted detention and apprehension of drug users from streets and exerting undue pressure to their families and not providing option for their treatment are some grievances of the drug users as well as their family members.

Urging the state government to set up a grievance cell, he informed that' substitute therapy is also treatment for drug users to stay away from drugs.
