Panchayat exposure tour reaches Leirongthel, Ningel

Chairpersons and members of administrative committees of Imphal West Zilla Parishads and Gram Panchayats visited Thoubal district on an exposure tour today.
Under the banner "Exposure visit within the State", the tour was organised by the Directorate of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Porompat, Imphal.
The visiting team was hosted by the Leirongthel-Ningel Gram Panchayat at Yairipok Khoirom Kangjeibung Multipurpose Community Hall.
Thoubal Zilla Parishad Administrative Committee Chairperson Kh Sobha, Leirongthel-Ningel Gram Panchayat Administrative Committee Chairperson Salam Kumar Meitei, Charangpat ZP Member Sougrakpam Japan Meitei, Phayeng GP Chairperson Angom Gojendro, Khurkhul GP Chairperson H Shanta, Kanglatongbi GP Chairperson Meena Bista, Lairenjam-Meijrao GP Chairperson Tongbram Manglemba, Tekcham GP Chairperson Langpoklakpam Damayenti and RD and PR Additional Account Officer RK Sanjoy and many other officials attended the event.
As part of the event, Leirongthel-Ningel Gram Panchayat released a booklet "Best practices of Leirongthel-Ningel GP" -- containing developmental projects of the Panchayat.
Further, field visits to various project sites were also organised as part of the exposure tour.
Leirongthel-Ningel Gram Panchayat Administrative Committee Chairperson Salam Kumar Meitei said the Panchayat has implemented various projects and schemes including the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
Under the MGNREGA, job card holders of the Cram Panchayat are given 100-man days a year, he said.
Kumar said under different schemes, the Panchayat has constructed 5 public ponds, several mini dams and public grounds.
He said the Panchayat has been taking up efforts to improve roads, sanitation, and enhance availability of clean drinking water.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-Gramin), 139 beneficiaries have received financial assistance for construction of houses, and surveys are being conducted to release funds for 370 more beneficiaries, Kumar added.
