DC chairs meet on I-Day, inaugurates Rakhi competition

Deputy commissioner Krishna Kumar, on Thursday chaired a preparatory meeting for the Independence Day Celebration 2025, along with a District Level Officers' meeting to review the schemes and programmes undertaken by various line departments in Jiribam district.
The meeting held at the conference hall of the DC Office discussed activities, roles, and responsibilities to be undertaken by the respective departments under their leadership for the 79th Independence Day Celebration, 2025, and to review the implementation of various schemes, programmes, and projects in the district.
During the meeting, Krishna Kumar instructed all DLOs to erect well-decorated banners highlighting the theme of their respective departments to convey the message of the schemes and programmes to the public.
He also directed them to ensure maximum staff participation in the Independence Day celebration.
The mobilisation of resources by respective departments and the identification of contingents for the successful celebration of the 79th Independence Day in the district were also discussed.
The DC further instructed all DLOs to hoist the Tricolour at their respective office buildings as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign and to share photos of their activities for uploading on the official portal.
He also encouraged them to promote the purchase of Tricolour at nominal prices from the flag counter of the DC Office.
The sub-divisional agricultural officer delivered a presentation on the imple mentation of the National Mission of Natural Farming in the district.
The meeting was attended by SP Senmi Ramror, Addl SP Thomas Thokchom, DFO E Nirmala Chanu, SDO (Jiribam/Borobekra) L Tarajeet, DIO N Bidyananda, SDC BO RK Gyandeep, SDC (Jiribam) Sitaranjit, BDO Gyaneshwar, SDC (Jiribam) Bijendro Atom, SDC (Borobekra) M Devananda, ZEO Th Amurashi Chanu, JMC executive officer M Surjit, SDAO Naem Shah and other DLOs.
Meanwhile, DC Krishna Kumar inaugurated a Tiranga Rakhi Making Competition for children from child care institutions as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
The event was organised by the district administration, in collaboration with District Child Protection Unit under the department of social welfare.
Speaking at the function, the DC highlighted the importance of Tiranga in the lives of the people and its significance to the nation.
He reflected on the sacrifices made by the forefathers for independence and the values represented by the National Flag.
A total of 12 children from two child care institutions participated in the competition.
Winners will be awarded on the occasion of Independence Day Celebration 2025 .
The event was also attended by district child protection officer Ibeyaima along with SDO, DIO, SDCs, and other DLOs .
