UG cadres nabbed; arms, ammo recovered

Imphal, April 01 2025: In a series of operations across multiple districts, police and central forces rounded up several cadres of UG organisations and recovered several arms, ammunition, and explosives in the last few days.

According to a police statement, on Sunday, five active members of the KCP-Noyon group involved in extortion and intimidation were arrested from different areas of Imphal East and Imphal West districts.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Khoisnam Sana-jaoba Singh (27), Khoinaijam Robertson Singh (24), Soubam Rohit Singh (23), Leishangthem Naobi Singh (33), and Khaidem Nongpoknganba Meitei (25) .

A 9mm pistol with three rounds, a pistol holster, three mobile phones, and two two-wheelers were recovered from their possession.

On Saturday, security forces arrested one active cadre of PREPAK (Pro), identified as Ningthoujam Boboy Singh alias Khongnangthaba (37), from Mandop Yumpham Relief Camp, Khurkhul, under Sekmai police station in Imphal West.

A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were seized from him.

An active member of KCP (PWG), identified as Sanasam Sonamit Singh alias Chekla alias Sonamani alias Naoba (27), was also apprehended from his residence in Sawombung Maning Leikai under Heingang PS, Imphal East on the same day.

The same day, one active cadre of KCP (PWG), identified as Salam Malemnganba Singh alias Wanglen (23), was arrested from a field near Upoki Village under Bishnupur PS, Bishnupur district, while another cadre of the KCP (PWG)-Lamyanba Khuman faction, identified as Thoidam Suresh Singh alias Lemba (34), was nabbed from Ningsingkhul, Jiribam under Jiribam PS.

Meanwhile, security forces recovered a substantial cache of weapons and explosives from Thangjing hill forest in Churachandpur district and Changoubung area of Kangpokpi district on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The haul included multiple firearms, including country-made rifles, pistols, and mortars, along with hand grenades, heavy mortar launchers, metal and plastic IEDs, live rounds of various calibres, gunpowder, helmets, wireless sets, Pompi guns, and bomb-making materials.
