Replace principal or face dissolution of MB College: Union

Maharaja Bodhchandra College, one the oldest government colleges in Manipur, is currently on the verge of dissolution owing to prolonged neglect.
Holding the principal responsible for the current state of affairs, the college's Students' Union 'demanded replacement of the principal within three days and threatened intense agitations in case their demand is unmet.
Addressing the media at the College in Palace Compound here Wednesday, MB College Students' Union general secretary Md Sahaj alleged that no significant development or student welfare initiatives have been undertaken at the college till date.
He accused the principal of turning a deaf ear to repeated pleas from students, including requests for organising co-curricular activities like debating, dance, and music competitions.
According to Md Sahaj, the toilets of the College get inundated within short spell of rainfall, causing serious inconveniences to the students.
The students had urged for repairing the same but the principal ignored the matter, he rued.
Md Sahaj also revealed that the principal refused to provide an account of the exact utilisation of annual funds allocated for the academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 .
"When the Union approached the principal to deal the inconveniences faced by the students and also for their welfare, he turned on the Union and mocked the students," Md Sahaj related, expressing concern over the principal's disrespectful attitude and behaviour towards students.
Md Sahaj told the media that the Students' Union had already submitted written appeals to the director, principal secretary, and assistant principal secretary, urging them to replace the current principal with a more competent individual.
However, no action has been taken up till date, he lamented.
Declaring that enough is enough, Md Sahaj reiterated the Union's demand for the principal's replacement within a three-day timeframe and cautioned that failure to meet this demand would compel the Students' Union to launch intense agitations.
