Actor, director Diya Khwairakpam passes away

Noted Manipuri film actor/director Diya Khwairakpam died due to health complications early Wednesday morning.
He was 58.Diya was bom on November 20, 1967 at Singjamei Yumnam Leikai, Imphal.
He was the youngest of nine children of (late) Khwairakpam Momon and Bormani.
Momon was also senior artiste and director of Rupmahal theatre.
Being bom in a family fond of theatre, Diya loved theatre from very young age and took part in many plays as a child artiste for Panthoibi Natya Mandir, Yumnam Leikai.
Diya began his career in film with Manipuri celluloid film 'Kombirei' in year 1989 and his acting skill and charming looks drew many fans.
Diya went to act in as many as 18 Manipuri celluloid films as lead role.
Some of the films Diya acted as lead role were 'Kombirei', 'Ingalei', 'Thambal', 'SanamanbiSanarei', 'Meiri', 'Hayengna Kanagino', 'Meiri Ama', 'Operation Sangai', 'Amambasu Anganbani', 'Madhabi', 'Kanaga Hinghouni', 'Shiroi Lily', 'Meichak Meichak', 'Helloi', 'Amuba Chandan' and 'EigiPunshi'.
He won best actor award twice for the film 'Eigi Punshi' .
He also acted and directed over 30 Manipuri digital films under the banner of Diya Film Productions.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Film Producers' Association convened acondolence meet on the sudden demise of Diya Khwairakpam at Association president Somen Moirangcha's residence at Heirangoithong Keibul Oinam Leikai on Wednesday.
Cine Artistes and Technicians Association also condoled the sudden demise of Diya Khwairakpam and convened a condolence meet at association president RK Janaranjan's residence.
