Imphal, August 08 2025:
Manipur Technical University (MTU) launched a year-long celebration of its 10th Foundation Day with a tree plantation programme on Friday, planting more than 200 saplings on the campus.
The celebration began with the foundation day event on August 5 and continues under the theme "Plant Today and Breathe Tomorrow".
The plantation drive was jointly organised by MTU's Eco Club and NSS Units I and II in collaboration with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Airport Security Group, Imphal Airport, and the Government Polytechnic, Imphal.
Officials from all partner organisations attended the event, which also drew support from local community groups including lions clubs of Imphal Chanura, Imphal Global, Imphal Leimarol and Imphal Ningol Collective.
"Today's success is a powerful testament to what we can achieve when we work together for a common cause," MTU environment nodal officer Kosygin Leishangthem said.
"As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, this tree plantation is a fitting way to renew our commitment not just to academic excellence, but also environmental stewardship.
Our theme, 'Plant Today and Breathe Tomorrow', reminds us that our small actions today have a massive impact on the sustainability of our planet".
MTU teaching and non-teaching staff joined students in the programme, reinforcing the role of community participation in tackling environmental challenges and creating a greener, healthier future for the region.
