A devastating fire which broke out in an old building located in between Tiddim and Thangzam roads in New Bazar area of Churachandpur town on Friday reduced properties worth over Rs 1.5 crore to cinders.
The building owned by (late) Lalrokung, the first MLA elected from Tipaimukh AC, caught fire at about 3 pm but exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained.
Eye-witnesses informed that the fire started from first floor of the building used as storeroom by non-local traders.
