Imphal, August 21 2025:
A day-long academic awareness programme on the theme "Impact of Drugs on Students" was organised by Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) at Sofia English School, Thoubal.
In a statement, CADA Information and Publicity secretary Longjam Brojen Angomcha said the event was attended by School headmaster Akoijam Jugeshwor, CADA president Hijam Priyokumar, and CADA Thoubal district committee president Athokpam Bimola as presidium members, while CADA vice president Ningthoujam Doren served as the resource person.
The statement highlighted that individuals earlier resorted to testing drugs after collecting money in groups, a practice that should never be encouraged.
It stressed that the younger generation must stay away from drugs at all costs, as a drug-free society is essential for building a healthy and progressive community.
Students, it added, play a crucial role in creating such a society.
Since even a single trial can lead to long-term addiction, the best approach is to refrain from testing drugs altogether.
The statement further stressed the responsibility of parents and teachers in guiding students, while noting that local clubs, meira paibi associations and senior citizens also have significant roles to play in the collective fight against drugs.
