Lup celebrates 9th Foundation Day

Nongpok Leingak Apunba Lup celebrated its 9th Foundation Day on Saturday with a talk on the challenges in the society and faithful resolution by Indira Gandhi National Tribal University faculty member Dr Homen Thangjam.
The event was attended by AMKIL president Thingbaijam Ibeyaima, All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Lup president Lourembam Ongbi Pramo and ICHAN president Tongbram Ongbi Premila as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Lup president Yumlmbam Ongbi Memma Leima said the Lup has been shouldering responsibility for the society and taking active role in big issues confronting the state.
Since the eruption of violence on May 3, 2023, entire people of the state have suffered a lot but the present BJP government is unable to resolve the crisis despite the repeated claims of being 'double engine' government.
She also condemned the government's effort of hunting down the village volunteers, who were compelled to defend the land when security forces could not protect lives and properties of the people at the initial phase of the ongoing violence.
In her key note address of the event, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Lup secretary Nongthonbam Ongbi Radhamani said tht scores of women and children are suffering in the ongoing violence or war while many young women have lost their husbands.
The war has also confined the Meetei community to a fish pond as members of the community are unable to move freely on any direction and are awaiting when the war would end, she said and stressed the need for collective efforts of all the indigenous peoples of the land to bring back peace and normalcy for the sake of future generation.
