44th World TB Day observed at Senapati

Senapati, April 10 2025:
The District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC) under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), of the District Health Society, Senapati observed 44th World TB Day today at DRDA Conference Hall, Senapati under the theme "Yes! WeCan End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver".
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Medical Officer of Senapati Dr Sumpi Percy briefed on the history of the TB control programmes and its activities taken on eliminating Tuberculosis.
She emphasized the variants of TB and its remedy of treating TB.
She stated that TB is one of the oldest communicable diseases that has not been able to be eradicate till date.
Stating that TB is susceptible to weak persons, he emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong immune system.
She also applauded the District Tuberculosis Officer and its team for their tireless effort on fighting TB in the district.
Dr L Muanching, District Tuberculosis Officer, Senapati in his speech highlighted the significant progress of TB incidence, death rates and other achievements of recent years.
She also highlighted various Government schemes and programmes towards TB elimination such as Nikhshay Poshan Yojana and PMTBMBA besides political leaders, Government officials and NGO's collective effort on ending TB at the grassroots level.
The DTO said that various test facilities like the WHO recommended molecular test, NAAT molecular test, Truenat machine and digital X-ray machine are freely available in the district for detecting TB .
She also applauded the Nikshay Mitras, TB Warriors/volunteers, and project & programme staff for their remarkable contribution and dedication in the campaign of eliminating TB.
Dr S Losica RK, MOTC, Senapati enlightened the gathering with PPT on TB and its related subject matter along with district activities.
TB Champion of the district, Kh Danii also gave a short briefing of his testimony on how he encountered Tuberculosis and its treatment.
As part of the programme, mementos and certificates were distributed to Nikshay Mitras for their active role in the campaign of TB elimination.
10 TB warriors and 327 volunteers were also given certificates of appreciation for their works.
Ten (10) Food Baskets were also distributed to TB patients.
The programme was attended by Adahrii Maheo, MCS, CEO/ADC, Senapati, DLO's, Medical Officers, CSO's, Youth Volunteers and medical staff.
