Workshops on social sustainability, leadership skill held

Centre for Study of Social Inclusive, Manipur University and Maharaja Bodhchandra (MB) College, Imphal jointly organised a one-day international workshop on Sustainability, inequality and social inclusion' at Court Hall, Manipur University on Thursday.
The workshop was attended by Centre for Study of Social Inclusive director Prof H Sud-hirkumar Singh as president and School of Social Sciences dean Prof Memcha Loitongbam as chief guest, while University of Bath, UK, Department of Economics Prof Sashi Nandeibam and MB College principal Dr T Bhabhananda Singh were guests of honour.
During the technical sessions, resource persons spoke on the topics Assessing the role of circular economy within the context of Manipur particular emphasis on Imphal', Inclusive development in Manipur', 'Sustainability in the context of urban heat in Manipur', Vulnerability, resilience and deprivation', Ayushman Bharat Scheme in meeting the cost of hospitalisation in Manipur', and 'Sustainable practices of water management in agriculture in Manipur'.
Another daylong workshop on 'Developing leadership skills and discipline' was jointly organised by English Department of GP Women's College, DMU and NCC unit of the College at its central hall on Friday.
Speaking as the chief guest, College principal Prof L Rajen reminded that a leader is not the one who is in the seat of power, but who can lead, calm and encourage the people for overall success.
Pointing out that leadership skills and discipline are essential virtues in attaining life goals, he said a leader needs to be proactive and responsible, in addition to having the ability to listen to others and able to speak one's thoughts.
He/she should be able to communicate properly with others and encourage his/her team members, apart from being able identify their own weaknesses and work hard to strengthen the same, elaborated the principal.
Presided over by College's English Department associate professor and head Dr Sobhana Laishram, AO of 65 (M) Girls Battalion NCC Major Alpana and CO 65 (M) Girls Battalion NCC, Colonel Patma Kumar attended as special guest and resource person respectively.
