Drug peddler handed over to Nagaland cops

Imphal, April 06 2025:
A team of Manipur police arrested one J Maikho (38), an accused in a drug-related case registered at Chumukedima police station in Nagaland and handed him over to the police authorities of the neighbouring state.
According to a statement issued by Manipur Police Control Room, Maikho was arrested on April 4 by Special Operations Team of the Manipur Police from Saranamai village in Senapati district and subsequently handed over 'to the Narcotics police station under Kohima police headquarters for further investigation.
J Maikho, a resident of Saranamai village in Senapati district was rounded up from his house in connection with a case involving drug transportation from Moreh border town to Dimapur, Nagaland via Imphal.
The control room further stated that following the original case registered at Chumukedima police station, Manipur police transferred Maikho to Nagaland, facilitating collaboration between the two state police forces.
The report added that drug suppliers are mainly based in Manipur, and they use Nagaland as a transit route to supply drugs to Assam and other north-eastern states.
