'Sandrembi' empowers IDPs with employment certificates

SANDREMBI Private Limited on Friday distributed employment certificates to seven internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have been taking shelter at the Khangabok Rice Research Station relief camp.
The distribution programme was held at the Thoubal DC office, where DC Ahanthem Subash presented the certificates to seven women IDPs, who have been confirmed as permanent employees of SANDREMBI Private Limited.
During his speech, DC Subash described the day as a momentous occasion for IDPs of Khangabok Rice Research Station relief camp.
He highlighted that the women who received the employment certificates will be able to continue their income-generating work even after returning to their respective homes.
The seven women were trained in production of cloth file covers and pen/pencil bags as part of a three-month programme organised by SANDREMBI Private Limited in collaboration with Arvind Hanglem, currently attached to the Thoubal DC office.
The programme was funded by Dehradun-based Centre for Cooperative and Livelihood, Labasa.
SANDREMBI Private Limited founder Konsam Padamini shared that the seven IDPs, who were initially on probation, are now skilled employees.
Having successfully produced 1500 cloth file covers, they have collectively earned over Rs 1 lakh.
They are officially hired as permanent employees of the company, she declared.
