Mob lynches man for sharing video of burning Quran

A 26-year-old man was lynched by an irate mob in Yairipok after he allegedly shared a video of himself burning the Quran and making statements against the holy book of Islam.
The victim has been identified as Md Imran, son of late Azeruddin of Yairipok Kekru Loubuk Leikai.
According to sources, Imran shared the video on social media in which he revealed own identity and held up a copy of the Quran.
In the video, he claimed that the Quran contained the story of the creation of the world by the Almighty Creator and asserted that the time for the Quran has come to an end.
He then stated that the Creator had commanded it to be burned, before setting it on fire.
The video quickly went viral, triggering outrage among Meitei Pangal community members.
A large mob soon gathered, tracked him down, and brutally assaulted him.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from Yairipok police station, led by its OC, traced the location only to find Imran's lifeless body near a riverbank at Yairipok Bamon Leikai Mathak, Oli Leirak.
His body was discovered naked.
As of 8:30 pm, police were waiting for a forensic expert team to arrive before recovering the body.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
