Financial literacy camp held at Ghari Awang Leikai

Under the aegis of Department of Financial Services, Government of India, LDM, Imphal West and SLBC, Manipur along with RBI, District Administration Imphal West, MSRLM and CRISIL jointly organised a financial literacy camp at Ghari Awang Leikai community hall on Thursday.
The camp was attended RBI Ombudsman, Guwahati CGM Bobby Lai Sebastian as chief guest, SBI, Imphal West region AGM and SLBC convenor Khumukcham Okendro as president and Sagolband Thounaojam Leikai Gram Panchayat zilla parishad Yumnam Kunjamani Singh as guest of honour.
Speaking in this regard, Kh Okendro informed that the financial literacy camp is being organised for people who previously opened a zero-balance PMJDY account and those with accounts under SSS scheme (PMJJBY, PMAPY, and PMSBY), as well as various other savings accounts, which have become inoperative.
The purpose of the camp is to encourage the operation and activation of these accounts, add nominations, and open new PMJDY accounts.
This camp is part of Government of India's goal of inclusive banking, aiming to ensure that all eligible people in the state open an account under these schemes and get benefit from them.
The campaign which began from July 1 will continue till September 30 .
For Manipur, the target is around 3,100 camps, and so far, about 50 per cent of them have been completed.
This is a collaborative effort involving all banks in Manipur, not just SBI, Okendro elaborated, while informing that similar camps will be organised in other locations to meet the target by September 30 .
