Babina Specialty Hospital gets NABH accreditation

Imphal, May 11 2024: American Oncology Institute (AOI) Babina Specialty Hospital, Khabeisoi has got the accreditation of National Accreditation Board of Hospital & Healthcare Providers (NABH) in recognition of its quality of service in patient care and safety.

Informing this during a press meet held at the hospital premises on Saturday, Babina Healthcare and Hospitality Industries Private Limited managing chairman and managing director Dr Thangjam Dhabali said that the NABH accreditation certificate was issued in the last week of March this year.

The hospital started functioning from September 14, 2020 with three key departments - medical oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology.

Now, the hospital has opened nuclear medicine department with facilities for PET CT and Gamma scan.

Moreover, the hospital has added iodine treatment therapy among its services and they are also making preparations for offering bone marrow transplantation facility within a couple of months, he said.

Dr Dhabali further informed that the hospital has been pursuing the accreditation for over a year and it was not an easy process.

The authority assesses the design, infrastructure, fire fighting equipment, patient safety, manpower discipline, and quality management as well as presence of specialists among other key factors.

The accreditation is granted only after fulfilling these criteria.

There are only a handful of NABH accredited hospitals in the country, he added.

He also said that apart from the hospital, Babina Diagnostics also got NABL accreditation in 2007.While the country has over one lakh diagnostic labs, only about 3000 of them have NABL accreditation and Babiha Diagnostic had become one of them.

Having a NABH accredited hospitalls a matter of pride for the state and it shows that the state too has the quality, infrastructure and facilities often found in renowned hospitals in major cities, he said and gave the credit of this achievement to the doctors, nurses, staff and different departments of the hospital.

The hospital also observed International Nurses' Day along with celebration of NABH accreditation at the hospital premises on Saturday.

DC Imphal East Khumanthem Diana, Dr Thangjam Dhabali and Manipur Nursing Council registrar Dr A Jamuna attended the occasion as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
