Tamenglong launches 7th Poshan Pakhwada

The 7th edition of Rashtriya Poshan Pakhwada was officially launched today in Tamenglong, marking a significant initiative aimed at promoting nutrition and health awareness in the region.
The launching event held at ZEF Hall, Tamenglong HQ, was organised by District Administration Tamenglong in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department Tamenglong.
The event was graced by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Chunglemang Kipgen (MCS) as the chief guest, Administrator of the One Stop Centre (OSC), Ekua Newme as functional president and Chief Medical Officer of Tamenglong, Dr G Majachungliu as guest of honour.
The event was hosted by Bonthanlung Gangmei, Inspector of Statistics Department, ICDS Project Tamenglong.
In his address, Kipgen acknowledged the vital role of Anganwadi workers, who are the backbone of the community's nutritional outreach.
He encouraged the Angawadi workers to remain committed to their mission despite the hurdles and challenges they are facing.
He also urged them to provide essential services and address local concerns effectively.
He also assured the people that his office remains accessible for any grievances or suggestions for improvement.
Dr Majachungliu emphasizes the importance of antenatal check-ups, urging expectant mothers to adhere to the prescribed medications.
She drew a comparison between children from two decades ago and today, noting the positive advancements in health and intelligence attributed to better prenatal care.
Ekua Newme in her speech, emphasized the importance of a balanced diet.
She advocated for the consumption of locally produced vegetables and fruits, asserting that these organic options are far more superior to processed foods available in the market.
The event concluded with a vibrant Poshan rally, which was flagged off by the chief guest.
The rally saw participation from over 80 Anganwadi workers representing the Tamenglong and Tousem projects, showcasing their dedication to the cause.
The Poshan Pakhwada campaign, which commenced nationwide on April 8, will continue until April 22, 2025, aiming to spread awareness about nutrition and health across the country.
