Imphal, August 08 2025:
Patients undergoing dialysis have urged authorities concerned to bring an agreement between the Association of Healthcare Providers - India (AHPI) Manipur Chapter and the government so they can continue receiving treatment under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) scheme.
In a press conference held at Manipur Press Club on Friday, attended by patients and their families receiving dialysis at various private hospitals, Bony Naoroibam, representing around 500 patients at Babina Hospital, noted that AHPI Manipur Chapter decided to stop providing treatment under the scheme from August 16 after the state government kept on hold pending bills for treatment services rendered under the scheme.
He said that the decision will severely affect patients who rely on the scheme for dialysis in private hospitals.
Without the PMJAY health card, patients would have to pay around Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 for a single dialysis session, with each patient undergoing three to four sessions a week.
This would amount to about Rs 50,000 a month, a cost far beyond the means of families living below the poverty line, he said.
Bony related that the patients are now in a life-and-death situation and urged the authorities to act immediately to ensure the continuation of dialysis services under PMJAY .
