MU advises teachers to serve diligently

While giving assurances that the government would take up Pole Star College out of the five remaining colleges left to be taken over by the government, MLA Usham Deben said that he would do his level best in this regard and urged the teachers of the College to shoulder responsibility to bring about the current level of education system into the College.
On Sunday, the oath-takmg ceremony of the newly elected office bearers of Pole Star College Teachers' Association (PSCTA), Hiyanglam Wabagai was held at the College.
College's Statistics Department Asst Prof Maibam Ram-charan, Political Science Asst Prof Dr Ngangom Jasantakumar and Physical Education Asst Prof Dr Langpoklakpam.Tamubi Devi took the oath as the new president, general secretary and treasurer of PSCTA, along with 20 other office bearers.
In his speech as the chief guest, MLA Deben recounted the establishment of Pole Star College and contributions of the teachers till date.
He said that concerted efforts are needed to bring up the College on par with other colleges and as such, urged the teachers and also the locals in improving the academic and general atmosphere of the college.
Stating that most colleges have been absorbed as government institutions except for five aided colleges, Deben pledged to ensure that the government picks Pole Star College out of the five colleges, as and when decision is taken to convert one more college to a government college.
He urged the Association and the Governing body of the College to abide by UGC guidelines and help bring about the latest education system into the state and College.
Presided over by new PSCTA president Asst Prof Maibam Ramcharan, the function was attended by College Governing Body chairman Moirangthem Shajou Meitei, secretary Wahengbam Manishwar Singh, Keirak-Wabagai GP Zilla Parishad (caretaker) Salam Dhanabir Luwang and Wabagai AC nominee Usham Gokulchand as guests of honour.
