Imphal, September 28 2025:
The Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) and the National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) jointly observed the 25th Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day at Lamyanba Shanglen at Palace Compound, today.
The gathering observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives in defence of Manipur.
Addressing the function, AMKIL president Lourembam Nganbi emphasized that safeguarding Manipur requires a collective effort from all indigenous communities, not just the Meiteis.
She claimed that Manipur, having existed as a sovereign kingdom for thousands of years, has been subjected to divisive tactics by the Government postmerger with India, allegedly aiming to break the State apart.

She alleged that the Government of India (GoI) has been employing a "divide and rule" strategy to create disunity among the people of Manipur.
Anyone unwilling to live in Manipur can leave, but any attempt to disrupt the State's territorial integrity and unity will be met with strong action, she said.
Asserting that no external force can break Manipur's unity, she added that the alleged Government of India's scheme to exploit Kuki militant groups under the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact to divide the State will never succeed.
She urged the Government of India to abandon its alleged divisive policies, stating that many Manipuris are willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of their motherland.
She warned that continuous attempts to fragment Manipur could spark a massive movement, similar to those seen in Nepal and Bangladesh.
Emphasizing that safeguarding Manipur isn't just the responsibility of the Meitei community, she called for a united effort from all indigenous groups to protect the State.
NIPCO president Oinam Premjit stated that the event commemorated the mass rally taken out in 2000 in protest against the ceasefire agreement between the Government of India and NSCN(IM) which threatened Manipur's territorial integrity.
Saying that there have been multiple attempts to break Manipur, he alleged that Kuki narco-terrorists have been carrying out a campaign since May 3, 2023 to divide Manipur.
He pointed out that the signing of the controversial agreement between the NSCN(IM) and GoI didn't lead to Meitei-Naga violence, unlike the current situation where Kuki aggression against Meiteis, driven by demands for a separate territory, has caused widespread unrest.
Premjit called for unity and cooperation among all communities in Manipur, emphasizing the need to coexist peacefully and collectively safeguard the State.
Advisor to United People's Front L Jadumani also attended the programme.
