Assault of doctor on duty strongly condemned

Imphal, September 21 2025:
All routine OPDs, elective surgeries and diagnostic tests in all private, Government and individual home clinics including diagnostic centres have been suspended from 6 am of September 23 to 6 am of September 24 .
A resolution to this effect was adopted today at an emergency meeting called today by Indian Medical Association (IMA) Manipur State Branch and AHPI Manipur (Association for Health Care Providers of India), IOGS (Imphal Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society) and other members of the medical fraternity.
IMA Manipur State Branch, IOGS and AHPI have condemned in the strongest terms the life threatening assault to Prof Ch Pritamkumar Singh, Unit Head, Dept of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, RIMS, Imphal in the line of duty on September 21, 2025 at RIMS campus.
The emergency meeting held today resolved to offer sincere condolences to the bereaved family of late Chingsubam Manju Devi.
As per the resolutions, all doctors will wear black badges in protest, and RIMS authority would be urged to file an FIR against the assault on Dr Chirom Pritamkumar and destruction of hospital properties and get the culprit/s arrested.
RIMS authority should take responsibility for the treatment of Prof Ch Pritamkumar Singh who is grievously injured and presently under Intensive Care Unit read another resolution.
The meeting resolved to stage a sit-in protest in front of the Medical Directorate on September 23, 2025 from 9 am to 12 pm .
It also resolved to ap-praise and submit a memorandum to the Governor regarding the "The Manipur Medicare Service Personnel and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2015 (Manipur Act No.3 of 2016)" and to expedite strong action against the culprits involved in the violence.
It further resolved to appraise the National Headquarters of Indian Medical Association, New Delhi regarding the act of violence against the doctor and vandalism and to take up strong action to prevent such incidents in the future, conveyed a statement issued by IMA Manipur State Branch.
