DESAM, AIMS inspect exam centres, 4 expelled

With the start of the Class X examinations 2020 today, Democratic Students' Union of Manipur (DESAM) and Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Singpanglup (AIMS) launched inspection drives at 13 exam centres across the State to ensure free and fair examination and four were expelled for using unfair means.
Speaking to media persons at DESAM office at Kwakeithel, its secretary general Leishangthem Lamyanba informed that the union carried out inspection at Johnstone Hr Sec School Centre A and B, Nilapadma Hr Sec School Sekmai centre A and B, Kumari High School Hiyangthang, Wangoi Hr Sec School, Temple of Learning, TG Hr Sec School centre A and B, Keishamthong High School, Ibotonsana Hr Sec School A and B, Tomchou Hr Sec School Mayang Imphal, Yumnam Huidrom High School, Samurou High School, Pishakmacha Bidya Mandir Mayang Imphal and Uchiwa High School.
Expressing gratitude to the OC/AOC/invigilators who extended cooperation to DESAM during the drive, he said that proper procedures of examination were observed at Johnstone Hr Sec School, Nilapadma, TOL, Keishamthong High School, Ibotonsana Hr Sec School and TG Hr Sec School.
However, DESAM also came across malpractices during the examination at Wangoi Hr Sec School and Tomchou Hr Sec School, he said.
On the other hand, one MD Nawaj Khan (Roll No 40947) was caught by DESAM and AIMS members at Kumari High School Hiyangthang for using a mobile phone during the exam.
It was also learned that he was involved in impersonation and hence, he was later expelled.
Furthermore, three students (Roll numbers 38541, 38455 and 48416) were also caught impersonating and they were later expelled as well with full cooperation from the authorities in charge of the examination centre, he informed.
Lamyanba announced that DESAM and AIMS will continue to launch such inspection drives at various examination centres in the future and appealed to one and all to ensure maintenance of examination decorum in order to bring quality education in Manipur.
