NIA arrests second accused in Tronglaobi blast case

Imphal, September 29 2026: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a 48-year-old man from Churachandpur in connection with the April 7 improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a residential house at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai which killed two minor children and injured their mother.

The accused, identified as Thangmang Haokip, is the second person arrested in the case.

He was arrested on September 25.The NIA had earlier arrested one S Palal on August 12 who is currently in judicial custody.

The case was initially registered at Moirang police station.

The NIA took over the case on April 23 .

The agency said Haokip's involvement emerged during the investigation.

Haokip was arrested on September 25 and produced before the Special NIA Court-II in Imphal, which remanded him to 12 days of police custody.

The NIA said further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other persons involved in the attack.
