IDPs denied financial aid, says MI-IDPM

Imphal, September 29 2026: The Manipur Ima-Internally Displaced Persons Manipur (MI-IDPM) has tated that IDPs have not been given financial assistance.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, MI-IDPM chief convenor Sagolsem Kulla Mangang said that the Government earlier announced a financial assistance of Rs one lakh to each displaced family but the same has not been fully translated into action till date.

Government officials said that each displaced family would be given Rs 25,000 in the first phase and Rs 20,000 in the second phase followed by the remaining Rs 55,000 after the family had returned to their home, Kulla said.

But most of the families displaced from Saikot Block of Churachandpur district have not received the financial assistance till date, he said.

While some of the displaced families have not yet received the first instalment, some others have received neither the first instalment nor the second instalment, he said.

On being enquired with officials of Churachandpur district administration through telephone, the officials claimed that the financial assistance has already been given to most families displaced from Saikot.

However, it turned out that most of the displaced families have not yet received the financial assistance, Kulla said.

He said that they lodged a written complaint/petition to the Churachandpur Deputy Commissioner a few months back but no concrete reply has been received till date.
