No NRC, No Census: 4 MLAs pledge support

Imphal, September 29 2026: As a part of the sustained movement for updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before conducting census, the Campaign for Just and Fair Delimitation (JFD) Women wing has launched a signature campaign of MLAs.

The signature campaign is basically aimed at ascertaining the positions of MLAs on the popular demand of updating the NRC with 1951 as the base year before census.

Launching the signature campaign, JFD Women Wing visited MLAs Heikham Dingo (Sekmai AC), Khongbantabam Ibomcha (Lamlai AC), Leishangthem Susindro (Khurai AC) and Lourembam Rameshwor (Keirao AC) today.

The JFD Women Wing members submitted a five-point memorandum to the four MLAs together with a written declaration format in support of the ongoing movement to keep all census operations at bay until and unless the NRC is updated and all illegal immigrants are identified.

According to a press release issued by the JFD Women Wing, all four MLAs namely; H Dingo, Kh Ibomcha, L Susindro and L Rameshwor pledged unstinted support to the people's demand for updating NRC before census.
