Imphal, September 30 2025:
The youths of the State must learn from the life of Jana Neta Irabot to become pillars of the Manipur society, former rebel leader RK Sanayaima has said.
He said this at a ceremony held to distribute prizes of the 1st State Level Spot Painting Competition, held on September 28, as part of the 129th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Khongman Mangjin Community Hall.
While remembering Irabot and observing his birth anniversary, the people, especially the youths, must study his life and his thoughts.
There is a need for developing young leaders who have the same thinking as Irabot did, Sanayaima said.
The present generation must trace the history and understand Irabot's life and where he stood in the society.
They must then ponder what they must do for the society, Sanayaima added.
For a just and equal society, Irabot stood against the British and the King.
He was the first journalist of Manipur who founded and worked with students, farmers and labourers, Sanayaima.
Irabot founded the Nikhil Manipuri Mahasabha - a political party that espoused the dream of a new form of Government and democracy among the people, he added.
Sanayaima then urged all to trace and study the life of Irabot.
There will be positive changes in the society when leaders like him emerge, he added.
Lamyanba Hijam Irabot Ningshing Lup president Th Shubashchandra, Film Forum Manipur chairman Kh Kuleswar and Imphal College's former Principal Moirangthem Priyobrata attended the programme.
Winners of the painting competition were awarded during the event.
