In connection with the ban imposed by City Meitei of the KCP (MTF) group on publication of all KCP factions an emergency meeting of journalists was held today wherein a previous decision to publish statements of any armed group has been reaffirmed among other resolutions.
Reminding that taking into account the conflict situation besieging Manipur resolution was adopted at the January 13, 2008 general body meeting of AMWJU to accommodate news item of any armed organisation, an AMWJU release also highlighted that media persons and media establishments do not wish to unnecessarily court trouble by declining to entertain statements of armed groups.
Conveying that due to many other banned outfits respecting the Code of Conduct worked out in previous general body meetings, press media had been able to serve the general public, the AMWJU release while appreciating KCP (MTF) group's objective of unifying the faction-ridden organisation nevertheless urged City Meitei to withdraw the ban imposed on publication of news items of all KCP groups as the such a stand is in violation of the Code of Conduct of AMWJU.
The scribes' body also reiterated its appeal to all armed outfits to honour the Code of Conduct so as to enable Editors work without any inhibition.
