Lamka, September 09 2015 :
Claiming that the people's movement for a separate political administration outside the Government of Manipur in the hill areas of the State is a non-communal one, the JAC spearheading the movement has issued an open appeal to the non-tribal communities living in the hill areas to stay put with them as there are no threats or intimidation to any particular community.
"As the people's movement for separate political administration outside the Government of Manipur is going on forcefully, we appeal to all concerned particularly the non-tribal communities living in the hill areas of the State to kindly stay with us and rather participate in the ongoing people's movement as it is a non-communal movement meant for the betterment of all communities living in the hill areas," said the JAC in an appeal today.
The JAC added, 'we assure their safety and will continue to do so even under the new political set-up' .
The three alleged anti-tribal Bills passed by the Manipur State Assembly on August 31 and the subsequent reactions by the tribal across the State may be the immediate cause of the movement, however, the core reason is the ineffective and insufficient political set-up in the hill areas of Manipur, said the JAC.
